A scholar of contemporary Black literature, film, and performance who writes at the intersection of culture and politics. She is the author of Mama’s Gun: Black Maternal Figures and the Politics of Transgression (2016), and dozens of scholarly articles and essays.

Based in Indianapolis, Dr. Marlo has taught and mentored students at Purdue University for more than a decade.
